check-in: april 11th

i haven't exactly remained stress-free like i had hoped. lately all i've been able to do to keep my head on straight is make lists, lists, and more lists! i do feel like i'm getting a lot accomplished, i just wish it would all happen a lot faster.

recently josh and i have checked the following off our to-do list:

-made/sent invitations
-made arrangements for a cake (something i originally rejected but have since come around to)
-picked out flowers
-decided on all our "special" songs
-ordered some cool western pants for josh
-found a veil and shoes
plus gathering a bunch of little things like table decorations, favors, etc.

my big stress right now is my dress, which was delivered back to me unfinished after more than a year of back and forth work on it. i don't know why the project couldn't be completed, i guess someone got in over their head, and finally i had to take matters into my own hands and get it back. my mom has stepped in and is doing all she can to match the design i had in mind, but the whole situation was just such a major disappointment. i don't even want to dwell on it right now.

i can't believe our wedding shower is nearly two weeks away! time is flying by so fast. before i know it i'm going to be mrs. wolfboy.

what's the deal?

you may be asking yourself "so what gives? with only 4 months until the wedding, shouldn't you have tons of stuff to be talking about?" well the answer is yes. the answer is also that as soon as the 6 month mark rolled around, i got completely overwhelmed and stressed out to the point where i now have nightmares about not making it to the wedding on time. i DO have plenty to update about, but honestly just thinking about this blog is enough to send me into a panic. not that we could ever afford it, but now i understand why people hire planners and junk to do all this. or, more specifically, why people run away and get hitched by elvis in some tacky chapel.

hopefully i'll be back soon (with less nightmares).

engagement photo shoot

it wasn't easy getting josh to go on a photo shoot, but i guess its a good thing he loves me so much :)

we decided that we really wanted to have our engagement photos taken at a carnival. i love the lights, the signs, the colors! going to the fair is something that we look forward to every summer and i just knew this was where i wanted to have our photos taken. my brother mike was the photographer, and i think he did an awesome job of capturing us as our silly selves as well as editing the photos to look just how i imagined.
we tried doing the shoot on two occasions and it rained both days. finally, we were down to one of the last fairs of the summer and guess what? more rain! we decided to grab some umbrellas and just make the best of it. we managed to get in quite a few shots in between the sporadic showers. there are some shots where we needed our umbrellas, but those ones ended up being some of my favorites from the whole shoot! it was very risky for my brother to be handling his expensive equipment in the rain, but he didn't throw in the towel and i think his hard work really shows.

here are just a few of my favorites from the shoot. 6 months from now, josh and i will be getting married!! i can hardly believe it :)

hello again!

i didn't intend to take such a lengthy hiatus from this blog. life has a tendency to get in the way, so you can imagine that with the added stress of buying a house we've been a bit preoccupied lately. despite the big changes, i am happy to report that we thank our lucky stars daily and still can't believe our good fortune to have found this house that is so charming and perfect for us and our taste!

since the last time i was here, halloween has come and gone (we went as elvis & pricilla,) josh's birthday passed (24 and a proud homeowner, hot-diggity!), thanksgiving is done, and christmas is on the way! i absolutely could not wait to dig out all my vintage decorations and put them up in the house. i put up not one but TWO trees, and they've already been up for two weeks. if you do the math correctly, that means...yep, couldn't even wait til after thanksgiving. ha.

we also finally got to shoot some photos for our engagement session after several attempts and rain delays. the day we finally made it out to the fair, it was still raining but we decided to suck it up and make the best of it because we were running out of time. i think they came out great, even the ones that show us holding my cute vintage umbrellas! my brother mike took the pictures and he did such a fantastic job. they're still being edited and i can't wait to share them with you, but for now here is a teaser!

now that december is nearly here, its almost 6 months until the wedding! i'm already in panic mode with a million things on my mind and even more things i need to accomplish. we're being forced to make cutbacks due to the unexpected house purchase and its making things a bit more difficult, but i think we'll manage. lots of loose ends to tie up in the next few weeks, so hopefully more regular postings. thanks for checking back in with us!!!

on hold

as you may have noticed, wedding things have been on hold for a hot minute. that's because we up and spent all our savings on this bad boy:

can't say i regret it one bit, but boy do we have some saving and catching up to do!! once we get settled in, its back to the grind. we really have to get some things checked off our list...we have less than a year to accomplish sooooo much! oof. it makes my head spin.

more to come soon. tomorrow we have our first of three engagement photo shoots to do and i'm really excited! here's a hint:

happy anniversary

3 years ago today josh and i became inseparable partners in crime.

which means that exactly 1 year from today, i will be walking down the aisle of a cemetery chapel to say "i do" to the cutest boy in the whole wide world.

i'm the luckiest girl ever :)
